What Are They Thinking Didn’t They Learn From Netflix
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
If you remember Netflix made a dumb marketing move in which they lost tens of thousands of customers. Well, it is happening again but this time with Express Scripts a medical insurance pharmacy network. If medical insurance companies are not hard enough to work with already Express Scripts has made it even more difficult. The brilliant idea they have conceived this time is to not renew their contract with Walgreens pharmacies. The contract between Walgreens and Express Scripts ended on December 31, 2011. This means if you have Express Scripts medical insurance as of January 1, 2012 you can no longer submit pharmacy prescription bills filled at any Walgreens pharmacy nationwide as well as Duane Reade pharmacies in the New York City area.
This may upset Express Scripts customers enough for them to change insurance companies or have their employer change to another insurance plan. Walgreens tried to negotiate the contract but Express Scripts was uninterested in renewing it. Walgreens understands the burden this places on their customers and would like to help and keep them. They have decided to start a special discount program on the Prescription Savings Club at Walgreens. Now a family can get an annual membership for only $10. This membership covers the immediate family including the spouse, dependents 22 years of age and under and their pets. Individual memberships are only $5 per year.
Joining the Walgreens club will allow you to receive discounted prices as well as savings on more than 8,000 brand-name and all generic medications, discounts on flu shots, pet prescriptions, nebulizers and diabetic supplies. Find out more by following them at Walgreens on Facebook and Walgreens on Twitter pages.
